After launching their original TPCast wireless VR
adapter for the HTC Vive last year and a little later making it available for
the Oculus Rift. TPCast have been announcing new hardware in the form of the
TPCast Plus and TPCast for Windows Mixed Reality hardware at CES 2018 this
year. The company has also announced their new next-generation TPCast 2.0
virtual reality wireless adapter which is capable of supporting resolutions up
to 8K while reducing latency to just 1 ms.
According to its developers the TPCast 2.0 virtual
reality wireless adapter has three main features. Firstly the adapter offers
users an ultra-low latency codec, capable of compressing VR content on a 50:1
ratio which significantly reduces the bandwidth required for video data
transmission, while still providing minimal latency.
Secondly the virtual reality wireless adapter has
been designed to be easy-to-use, and if it is anything like the first
generation integrates with the HTC Vive perfectly and is very easily set up.
Another advantage of the TPCast 2.0 is the system scalability making it easy to
adapt to any headset whether offers 3k, 4k, and 8k video resolution, says
TPCast.
Thirdly the TPCast 2.0 virtual reality wireless
adapter offers a similar if not improved user experience when compared to a
wired connection, which sometimes pulls on a users head when they venture to
close to the edge of the gaming area. Unfortunately, no information on pricing
or worldwide availability has been released as yet for the TPCast 2.0, but as
