If you are one of those that believed that Sony
could launch its high powered flagships at the CES in LAS VEGAS later this
month, then you’re not going to like this news as latest reports contradict
such belief.
A new report from Georgian website Vortex.ge has
suggested Sony may have decided to shelve the release of its first premium
smartphones for 2018 (alleged to be Xperia XZ1 Premium, Xperia XZ1 Plus, and
Xperia XZ1s) till later in the year, precisely to be presented at the MWC later
in February. So it is most likely we would be seeing the launch of Sony’s
mid-low-end devices at the CES.
While no mentioned was made to the names nor the
technical specifications of the upcoming flagships Sony phones, previous reports
have it that Sony has been working on introducing the Xperia XZ1 Premium,
Xperia XZ1 Plus, and Xperia XZ1s as successors to Sony’s high-end handsets of
2017. Rumors surrounding these devices have been doing the rounds for some
time, though under their model numbers.
The Xperia XZ1 Premium, the most high-end of the
trio is rumored to arrive with a bezel-free 5.5-inch screen with 2160 x 3840
pixels (4K), dual rear camera, and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
processor, while the Xperia XZ1 Plus and Xperia XZ1s is also expected to
feature same bezel-free design with rear fingerprint scanners, dual 12 MP
cameras with Snapdragon 845 processor for the XZ1 plus, while the Xperia XZ1s
will retain the older Snapdragon 835.
