OPPO had unveiled the OPPO A83 smartphone with full
screen design in China in December. The Chinese firm has confirmed on the
Twitter account of OPPO Mobile India that it will be launching the smartphone
in India on Jan. 20. There is no confirmation on the official pricing of the
OPPO A83 for the Indian markets. However, an Indian publication has learnt from
its sources that it will be priced at Rs. 13,990 (US$ 218). The Indian variant of
the smartphone will be slightly different from the Chinese model in departments
like RAM and battery.
The OPPO A83 features a 5.7-inch LCD display that
produces HD screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It offers an aspect ratio
of 18:9. The MediaTek Helio P23 (MT6737T) that features a 2.5 GHz octa-core processor
powers the smartphone.
The OPPO A83 that was released in China features 4
GB of RAM, but the model that is arriving in India is speculated to include 3
GB of RAM. Instead of 3,090mAh battery found on the Chinese model, the OPPO A83
for India is expected to house a 3,180mAh battery. The smartphone does not
feature a fingerprint scanner. Instead, it comes with facial recognition
feature that can unlock the phone in 0.18 seconds by identifying 128 unique
features on the face of the user.
The OPPO A83 has a rear-mounted camera of
13-megapixel that is coupled with a LED flash. For snapping selfies, it is
fitted with an 8-megapixel front camera. It can capture impressive selfie shots
with AI Beauty recognition technology.
Other specs of the phone include dual-SIM support,
4G LTE, Wi-Fi, microUSB, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. It is expected to land in India
in color variants like Black and Champagne. With a pricing of Rs. 13,990
(US$ 218), OPPO India’s A83 will rival with smartphones like Xiaomi Mi A1 and
Honor 7X. The smartphone was introduced in China with a similar price tag of
1,399 Yuan (US$ 217).
