In January 2017 at the CES, Alcatel had announced
the Alcatel A3 XL targeted at those in search of premium smartphones at the
affordable price range. The company appears now to be working on a successor to
the A3 XL as evident by the appearance of an Alcatel-branded device dubbed
Alcatel A3A XL on the FCC certification
site. Further fueling speculations that the device may be unveiled at the
January CES, the device has now surfaced on the GFXBench listing with virtually
all of its expected specifications.
Listed with the model number TCL 5099, the Alcatel
A3A XL bears a 5-inch display along with 2160 x 1080 resolution, and while we
are not certain what design trend will be in place, the screen resolution
suggests the device will adopt the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio. The device will be
powered by backed by a MediaTek MT6735 quad-core chipset clocking at 1.4GHz.
RAM is GB, while the storage space is 16GB, and will run Android Oreo out of
the box.
On the photographic front, the device is listed with
a single 16-megapixel (but a 15-megapixel camera is referenced in GFXBench
list), while an 8-megapixel (7-megapixel as per the listing) selfie camera is
said to be above the display, this is in contrary to the listing on the FCC
where the attached image indicated this device will come sporting a dual rear
camera setup.
We are not exactly sure when the Alcatel A3A XL will
be unveiled, but having cleared FCC hurdle and now its appearance on GFXBench,
the launch date may just be around the corner.
