Amazon India has started teasing a new Samsung
Galaxy On handset. Considering that the Galaxy On models have always been
rebranded Galaxy J units, the question is which one of the latter models is
getting turned on. Or should we say, turned into an On. Amazon's Indian website
mentions the phone's "Superior Performance," and a "New Way To
Shop." The latter could be hinting that the phone will be equipped with
Samsung Pay or another mobile payment system. Since the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is
the only model in the series with support for the complete Samsung Pay package,
that could be the phone that this new Galaxy On is based on.
If this is the case, the new Samsung Galaxy On will
have the same specs as the Galaxy J7 Pro. That means the Galaxy On features a
5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Powering the
device is the Exynos 7870 chipset carrying an octa-core 1.6GHz CPU and the
Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of expandable storage.
The cameras in back and front both weigh in at 13MP, and a 3600mAh battery
keeps the lights on.
And if this isn't complicated enough, the Galaxy J7
Pro is actually the model sold in Europe as the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017), which
is not the same phone as the AT&T Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017). The AT&T
model is actually similar to the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016).
Yes, it's all very confusing, but let's just get to
the heart of the matter; a new Samsung Galaxy On handset will soon be launched
in India, available exclusively from Amazon.
