MediaTek has this week unveiled a new range of
smartphone biosensor hardware which takes the form of the Sensio module which
can be be embedded into smartphones to easily add a range of user health
tracking sensors and data capture technology.
The MediaTek Sensio MT6381 is a
6-in-1 smartphone biosensor module which is expected to be made available to
manufacturers early next year sometime during 2018. The MediaTek Sensio MT6381
module measures about 6.8mm x 4.9mm x 1.mm in size and requires a user to hold
their finger to a light-sensitive sensor on the smartphone for roughly 60
seconds to take readings.
The new Sensio biosensor for smartphones created by
MediaTek is capable of tracking :
– Heart rate
– Heart rate variability
– Blood pressure trends
– Peripheral Oxygen Saturation (SpO2)
– Electrocardiagraphy (electrical activity from your
heart)
– Photoplethysmography (changes in blood volume)
