TCL is expected to unleash a new wave of Alcatel
smartphones early next year. Based on previous experiences, the Chinese company
usually introduces new handsets in late February at MWC (Mobile World
Congress), but there's a chance that a couple of Alcatel smartphones will be
announced in early January at CES (Consumers Electronics Show).
One of the smartphones that will certainly be part
of TCL's new lineup is the Alcatel 5. The smartphone has just been certified at
FCC (Federal Communications Commission), which brings it one step closer to
release.
The smartphone appears to feature a brushed metal
casing and dual selfie cameras. Aside from the main camera, the back side also
accommodates a fingerprint sensor. The pictures filed at FCC reveal the Alcatel
5 will pack a USB Type-C port and a 3,000 mAh battery.
Finally, the same images seem to confirm Alcatel 5
will be another smartphone to include an 18:9 display. We don't have any
details about its hardware, but previous reports claim it will be powered by an
octa-core MediaTek chipset.
