Netbooks are long buried in the history of failures
a project that began with the best of intentions but the implementation was
horrific. Slow CPUs, even slower HDDs and poor quality displays are just some
of the disadvantages most of these devices carried. It seems that the required
technology was not there yet. But now it is and allows for incredible little
machines to be manufactured. We are talking about the GPD Pocket, a 7″ mini
laptop with great performance.
The GPD Pocket comes with the Intel Atom x7-Z8750
inside, accompanied by an impressive 8GB RAM as well as 128GB of storage
(eMMC). Despite its small display, it comes with a FHD resolution and plenty of
available ports: 1x USB Type-C 3.0, 1x USB Type-A 3.0, HDMI D Type, and a 3.5mm
headset jack. It runs on Windows 10 but the most impressive of all is the
7000mAh battery capacity that gives the little computer almost 12 hours of use.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t available in the US
initially and you could find it only via Amazon for much more bucks than it
cost elsewhere. Thankfully, Walmart being a huge retailer, added it to its
product lineup and is selling it now for just US$ 479.99.
