demonstration of a 5G data connection on a single-chip 5G modem w/ the
Snapdragon X50.
The Snapdragon X50 5G modem chips achieved over 1
Gbps download speed in their tests using multiple 5G carriers. In addition,
Qualcom was also able to successfully establish an over-the-air connection
using a tiny 28 GHz mmWave antenna module.
Qualcomm used the mmWave 5G smartphone reference
design in order to test and optimize 5G mmWave performance within the constraints
of a mobile form factor. Qualcomm's Snapdragon X50 5G NR modem family is
expected to arrive on 5G mobile devices this first half of 2019.
