Back in February, during MWC 2017 in Barcelona,
Motorola announced several new Moto Mods for the Moto Z and Moto Z2 series.
Among the modular accessories introduced were the Amazon Alexa speaker and the
Polaroid Insta-Share printer. Today, tipster extraordinaire Evan Blass sent out
a tweet that gives us a look-see at both new MotoMods. The Alexa speaker
converts your Moto Z(2) into a handheld Echo smart speaker thanks to the
presence of virtual assistant Alexa. The latter will control your smart home,
give you the latest news and weather, allow you to shop by voice through
Amazon, and much more.
As you might have surmised from its name, the
Polaroid Insta-share printer will quickly print out a hard copy of a photograph
that you've taken with your Moto Z(2). The image of the accessory reveals the
slot where the printed photograph will exit from, and a cut out for the phone's
rear-facing camera. And for a bit of nostalgia, the Polaroid rainbow logo can
be found underneath the cut out.
Both Moto Mods are easily attached and detached
thanks to the 16 magnetic pins found on the rear of all Moto Z and Moto Z2
phones. At this point, we still haven't a clue as to when these two will be
launched, and how much they will cost once that takes place. However, with the dissemination
of these images, we'd guess that it won't be too long before the Amazon Alexa
speaker and the Polaroid Insta-Share printer are available.
