Mi Notebook Air 13.3

Singles day is coming up soon, and companies are flocking to prepare products for the day. Xiaomi are putting on a pretty strong showing this time with a new variant of the Mi Notebook Air 13.3. Unfortunately for them, I simply can’t see the point of this device. The specs of the device are the same as the normal model, except for two changes.

There have been multiple Mi Notebook Air 13.3 variants before this like the 4G and fingerprint variants. It’s a pretty popular device, but this time around it’s pretty much a straight downgrade. The CPU is the i5-7200U which is fine, but the baffling choice is the removal of the MX150 GPU in favour of the Intel HD620.

This could’ve been fine if the pricing lined up, but it simply doesn’t. The new Mi Notebook Air 13.3 will cost a pretty 4799 yuan (US$ 725) for the 4GB/256GB model and 4999 yuan (US$ 755) for the 8GB/256GB model. This is quite the steep price for what’s basically a downgrade. It does have a fingerprint sensor, but we’d honestly give this one a pass.
