After quite a long period under the radar, Chinese
phone maker Meitu are back with a new device – the Meitu M8s – available in
four amazing special editions: Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Doraemon and Hello
Kitty.
The Meitu M8s will also be purchasable in a “normal”
version which does feature some really good specs. We indeed go from the high
quality 5.2-inch FHD AMOLED display to a MediaTek Helio X27 CPU, 4GB of RAM and
64GB of internal storage.
Since Meitu are also famous for their selfie app,
the M8s could not launch without a dual camera setup at the front, with one of
the two being a Sony IMX362 with OIS and PDAF. So, you’re going to be able to
snap stellar selfies with the fancy bokeh effect if you so desire. As far as the
rear camera goes, the company actually hasn’t revealed which sensor they’re
using but since we had a 21MP shooter on the Meitu M8, it’s safe to assume
we’ll probably see the same on the M8s.
Finally, we know that the Meitu M8s will be
featuring a 3100 mAh capacity battery with fast charging support and an Hi-Fi
audio chip to improve sound quality. The Meitu M8s standard edition will be
selling for 2999 Yuan (US$ 455) starting October 26th. Now let’s get into the
special editions smartphones. As we previously mentioned there’ll be four of
those and they’ll all pack 128GB of internal storage.
The first to come out will be the Meitu M8s Hello
Kitty Limited Edition, which will have a gold body and the cute kitten printed
on it. With it you’ll also get a customized selfie stick with a remote, a
collection certificate and a customized UI. Pre-orders on this version will
kick off on October 16th at 12:00 to then go on sale on October 26th.
Next we have the Sailor Moon Limited Edition in red
with the girl warrior design on top, also here you get the same accessories and
a customized UI. Pre-orders will begin on November 3rd with sales starting on
November 11th.
With the blue-colored Doraemon Limited Edition you
don’t get a selfie stick but instead will receive a customized power bank and
tiny blue remote shutter button.
Last but not least, we have the Meitu M8s Dragon
Ball Z Limited Edition – of which I just pre-ordered 3, not really. This one
comes in a silver body with a Goku and Gohan design, a sleek looking black power
bank and an orange remote shutter. The Doraemon and Dragon Ball Z limited
editions will be available in December.
All the limited editions above will set you back
3399 Yuan (US$ 516) at launch.
