Today Vive’s Creative Labs Have introduced and
released a new SteamVR Home experience entitled Driftwood, which has been
designed to provide you with your very own personal Vive outpost to the VR
world. Driftwood has taken inspiration from the real world beauty of the
Pacific Northwest, Driftwood transports you to an interactive and social world
where you can explore a beautifully detailed beach environment, spot indigenous
flora and fauna, where you can organise your trophies inside your own Vive
travel pod.
HTC have also made it possible for you to invite friends over to
your own social lobby. Drew Bamford, head of Vive Creative Labs explains more :
We’ve merged
the remote feel of a private outpost, with a beachfront landscape that is reminiscent of our backyard in the Pacific
Northwest. Over time, we’ll evolve
Driftwood to add new elements including quests, mini-games and other
unlockables and collectibles from Vive Creative Labs to share with friends.
Over time, HTC
Creative Labs will expand Driftwood adding new elements like quests,
mini-games, and other unlockable Vive collectibles to share with friends.
Please subscribe to receive updates! The Driftwood environment can also become
your default load-in as you launch SteamVR by selecting it as your Home.
Developed by the team at HTC Creative Labs, Seattle Washington. Additional
assets by Quixel MegaScans, MAWI United, and GameTextures
Driftwood is now available to download directly from
