Sony has unveiled a pair of compact soundbars, the
HT-MT300 and the HT-MT500. Both models feature a modern design to, says Sony,
match current living room design trends. The HT-MT500 also features
high-resolution audio for enhancing and upscaling existing audio, while both
feature a wireless and slim subwoofer. Both models include both NFC and
Bluetooth.
Unlike some soundbars, these models have a slim size
to blend well with a room without sticking out or getting in the way of other
devices. Both the MT300 and the MT500 have a tactile finish with a matte grille
on the front and a leather ‘look’ on the surface. Both cremewhite and charcoal
black color options will be available.
The MT300 model has both NFC and Bluetooth; the MT500
model adds Chromecast on top of that, as well as Spotify Connect. The latter
model includes a Music Service button for fast access to whatever the last song
you listened to on Spotify Premium was.
Both of these soundbar models feature a Sofa Mode
for feeling the ‘low frequency effects’ if the subwoofer is put beneath a
couch. The subwoofer, of course, can be positioned elsewhere, as well. There’s
also a cinema-style surround sound called S-Force PRO Front Surround. When
these models launch in the near future, the MT300 will be priced at about 300
Euros and the MT500 at about 500 Euros.
