Images of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active have
surfaced that offers a clear look at the phone from front and back. The phone
was certified by the FCC earlier this month. The live images were posted by
Android Police.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active sports a design similar
to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus. The AT&T model in the live images
does not features the curved 3D glass edges and it has thick bezels on all
sides mostly for better protection of the display. It is said to be 1.5 times
thicker than the S8. The phone has the same a 5.8-inch flat AMOLED display
instead of the gorgeous infinity display on the S8. The handset is built to the MIL-STD-810G for
extra durability and also comes with IP68 dust-and-water resistance
certification.
The Galaxy S8 Active will come with a 4,000 mAh
battery compared to 3,500 mAh on the Galaxy S8 Plus and 3,000 mAh on the Galaxy
S8. Last year’s S7 Active also came with a 4,000 mAh unit. Samsung has ditched
the Active Key button in favor of the Bixby button. The phone is running
Android 7.0. It must be noted that the Galaxy S8 Active doesn’t feature
underwater camera mode that was present on previous Active models.
