At CES earlier this month Nvidia unveiled its
second-generation Shield TV console running Android TV. It's smaller than the
original from 2015, it runs the latest Nougat-based Android TV build, and will
be graced with support for Google Assistant later this year. That said, the
insides are identical to those of the Shield TV (2015), with a Tegra X1 chipset
and 3GB of RAM.
The new Shield TV has an HDMI port, two USB 3.0
ports, and Gigabit Ethernet. It comes bundled with a gamepad and a remote, and
the whole package can be yours for US$ 199.99 if you're fine with 16GB of storage.
This model is now available from Nvidia's online store, as well as other
retailers. There's a Pro version in the works too, which has 500GB of storage
and adds a microUSB and a microSD port, but this one is just up for pre-order
at the moment, not in stock.
Extra accessories are up for grabs too, with the
remote costing US$ 49.99, the game controller being priced at US$ 59.99, and an
official vertical stand for the console going for US$ 19.99.
