ONYX International has announced the availability of
the new ONYX BOOX Prometheus 2 on the Russian market. According to the
manufacturer, this is the first device in the world equipped with an E Ink
Carta screen with a diagonal of 9.7 inches. Previous devices with such a matrix
had a screen much smaller than the diagonal. Also in the novelty are
implemented the proprietary function SNOW Field and the support of the FB3 file
format. In addition, the device is running an operating system Android, which
allows you to install on it applications from Google Play.
The new ONYX BOOX Prometheus 2 is equipped with a
9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display E Ink Carta with a resolution of
1200x825 pixels and a function of continuously adjustable backlight MOON Light.
It is suitable for viewing documents of PDF and DjVu formats, graphic files and
illustrations, scientific, technical and educational literature or for home
reading of books. On the right side of the front panel there are additional
controls: two buttons for navigating through pages, "Menu" and
"Back."
In the novelty, as in all the latest ONYX BOOX
models, there is support for the SNOW Field function. With its activation, the
number of artifacts is reduced with a partial redraw, without the need for a
full redrawing of the screen. ONYX BOOX Prometheus 2 supports all popular text
and graphic file formats, including a large number of different languages. In
addition, the support for the FB3 file format is implemented in the bugcoder. The
device is pre-installed English-Russian and Russian-English dictionaries with
the ability to add dictionary databases format StarDict.
The ONYX BOOX Prometheus 2 has a processor with a
clock speed of 1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory with the ability to
expand memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB and a battery capacity of
3,000 mAh. It works under Android 4.0.4, which allows you to install
applications from Google Play. Also in the book reader there are Wi-Fi and
Bluetooth modules for access to the Internet and connection of additional
accessories.
The body of the ONYX BOOX Prometheus 2 is made of an
aluminum-magnesium alloy, so it is more durable. It also has a Hall sensor, and
the supplied smart cover puts the device into sleep mode when it is closed.
ONYX BOOX Prometheus 2 comes in a black box. It has
already gone on sale at the recommended retail price of 23,990 rubles.
