UMi is actually
much larger outside of the local market than they are at home. While we all know who UMi is and know their
phones, Chinese consumers aren’t up on the latest offerings from the brand,
which might explain why InnJoo are able to simply rebrand the Umi E Plus as
their own handset.
InnJoo are calling their phone the InnJoo Pro 2 and
have packed the handset full of the same hardware that has helped to make the
Umi flagship popular such as 6GB RAM, a Mediatek Helio X20 chipset and 5.5-inch
display.
It’s not clear if InnJoo hope to launch their
version of the UMi E Plus outside of China, but we wonder what would happen if
they did? If this is a clone would Umi take action, or would we learn that
InnJoo are actually the manufacturer and it’s Umi doing the rebranding?
