Panasonic Toughpad FX-A2 will be
available in the United States for no less than US$ 2,189. However, this price is
for the base model, the Wi-Fi only version of the tablet.
The good news is the tablet comes with a couple of
optional features like integrated configurations for barcode reader or second
USB, integrated Smart Card Reader, AT&T or Verizon WWAN with 4G LTE, and
Dual Pass-Through Antenna for better connectivity.
There are a couple of accessories that come with the
tablet, such as desktop cradle, vehicle mount, active stylus pen and rotating
hand strap. The Toughpad FZ-A2 ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating
system and Android for Work's enterprise security built-in, which is why it's
aimed at enterprise customers.
The rugged features of the tablet include
MIL-STD-810G certification, as the tablet offer protection from drops of up to
five feet. It also features IP65 rating for protection from dust and water.
The tablet is equipped with a 2.4GHz
Intel Atom Z8550 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. It also
sports a large 10.1-inch display with WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution and
800 nit for better daylight readability.
An 8-megapixel camera is available on the back, while
in the front the slate features a secondary 2-megapixel camera. Among the many
connectivity options the tablet offers, we should mention Wi-Fi with
802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI out, USB A 3.0 and USB
Type-C, as well as GPS.
According to Panasonic, the tablet's 2,720 mAh
battery should provide up to 9 hours of average use, but a “hot swap battery”
feature is available via business expansion module for those who want it.
