MyPhone brings a Chinese brand’s first smartphone in the Philippines dubbed the SuperD D1. Its main features include a 3D
display, virtual reality and eye motion tracking.
This
product has nothing to do with the TV show of the same name. So, the SuperD D1
will be sold in the Philippines by MyPhone both online and in the company’s
physical stores but without a re-branding. It’s like what SKK Mobile did with
DingDing.
Let’s start with the screen – a 5.5-inch full HD IPS
panel that can show 3D content such as videos without 3D glasses. Next is its
virtual reality capability that can be experienced using a free VR headset that
MyPhone is giving away for free for every purchase up to the first 1000
customers.
The VR experience is then enhanced by the phone’s
eye motion tracking technology. It employs a secondary front camera that tracks
where the user is looking. Hence, it adjust the perspective of the virtual
reality scene to better simulate reality.
The SuperD D1 runs on an octa core processor from
MediaTek (MT6750T) with 3GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the operating
system. It comes with 32GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot.
At the back, there’s a 13 Megapixel camera with a
LED flash. Meanwhile, an 8 Megapixel selfie shooter resides on the front.
There’s also a fingerprint sensor below the rear camera. It has 4G LTE
connectivity, a 3000 mAh battery and a metal frame. It’s available in two color
options – gold and silver.
MyPhone is selling the SuperD D1 for an official
price of PHP 11,999.00. It will be available through the company’s online shop and
on Lazada Philippines by the end of January 2017. For the 3D and VR content, a
SuperD VR Store is also available.
