Harman International (which is in the process of
being acquired by Samsung) announced two brand new water-resistant portable
Bluetooth speakers: JBL Pulse 3 and JBL Flip 4. The JBL Pulse 3 is an elegant
speaker that provides 360-degree stereo sound and a customizable 360-degree LED
light show, while packing a battery good enough for up to 12 hours of playtime.
Also including a 12-hour battery, the JBL Flip 4 is
a rugged speaker (more suited for outdoors scenarios) that does not have any
light show capabilities - but that's why it's going to be cheaper.
Both the JBL Pulse 3 and JBL Flip 4 are
IPx7-certified for water-resistance, so you don't have to worry about rain or
accidental spills. The two accessories feature noise and echo-cancelling
speakerphones, letting you seamlessly take phone calls, and can be connected to
up to 2 smartphones or tablets (via Bluetooth). A JBL Connect+ app can link
even more speakers together for an amplified, richer listening experience.
Moreover, a JBL Voice Assistant Integration feature lets users access Siri or
Google Now, and control music playback via voice command.
Harman will start selling the JBL Pulse 3 and JBL
Flip 4 this spring, via JBL.com. The Pulse 3 is priced at US$ 199.95 (and will be
available only in black), while the Flip 4 costs US$ 99.95 (coming in 6 vibrant
colors).
