Gionee have announced a new mid-range phone
for their home market in the Gionee Steel 2. The Steel 2 comes with a 4000 mAh
battery, and features a 5-inch display.

- 1.25 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor (unspecified model)
- 3GB RAM
- Mali T720 GPU
- 8 mega-pixel rear camera
- 16GB/32GB ROM (expandable up to 128GB via microSD)
- Android 6.0
- Fingerprint sensor
It’ll be available in Jazz Gold and Gold Black
colour variants. As you can see from the spec set above, GizChina
readers outside of China will probably not be too frustrated about not having
this phone available anywhere else besides China.
The phone costs 1299 yuan in China, about US$ 187. Not sure what Gionee are after with this one, but their track
record says that they know a thing or two about the offline market.
