Huawei Mate 9 Lite
Huawei new Mate 9 Lite has now become official. Huawei hasn't held any sort
of special event for this model, choosing instead to silently list it on its
website.
The Mate 9 Lite comes with mid-range specs as you'd
expect judging by its name. It won't compete with the other Mates in terms of
performance, yet on the other hand it should be the cheapest Mate 9 you can
buy.
It comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen with 2.5D
curved glass on top, the Kirin 655 SoC with an octa-core CPU, an 8 MP selfie
snapper, and a 3,340 mAh battery. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's
EMUI 4.1 on top.
The Mate 9 Lite has a dual rear camera setup like
the other Mates before it, but the 20 MP + 12 MP resolution of its siblings was
downgraded to 12 MP + 2 MP (and the Leica branding is gone too). The main 12 MP
sensor has 1.25nm pixels and phase detection autofocus that should work in 0.3
seconds. The secondary unit captures depth information so you can create bokeh
effects for your photos.
Two hardware versions will be up for grabs (possibly
depending on market), one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the other having
4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Mate 9 Lite's dimensions are 150.9 x 76.2 x
8.2 mm, and it weighs 162g. It has a full metal construction and a fingerprint
sensor on the back. It will be offered in gold, gray, and silver. Pricing and
availability information haven't been announced yet.
