Kobo Aura One
If you are in the market for an E-book
reader, then the newly launched Kobo Aura One might be the one for you. This is
the new E-book reader from the company which is light, thin and
water-resistant. This might be an ideal E-book reader for its size. We all know
Amazon is doing very good with their Kindle lineup. They recently launched a
new one for 5999 INR, which is thinner, lighter and has Bluetooth connectivity.
The new Kobo Aura One has a 7.8-inch
display with a 300 ppi. So this is technically the largest screen for an E-book
reader. Also with that pixel density, it is also the most pixel dense e-ink
display you can buy right now in the market. Apart from that, it is also very
thin as it comes with a thickness of 6.9 mm and weighs only 230 grams. So these
might just be enough reasons to buy this new one over the other existing
products of the same category.
The Kobo Aura One has 1 GHz processor
and 512 MB of RAM. But interestingly, the company also claims that the Aura One
meets IPX8 standards. So this means that it can be submerged in 2 meters of
water. If you remember, the company also launched the Aura H20 previously. It
had an IP67 rating, but the new one takes it to the next level. On the software
side also the company is introducing some new features. The one noteworthy
features are the ability to change the colour temperature of the screen.
This can be manually tweaked according
to the requirements, or you can just set it on auto mode and call it a day.
There’s a tiled home screen which displays all the books you are reading, and
it also allows for quick access to the store for purchasing some new ones. You
can also sync your pocket account, which lets you read the articles on the
device.
Kobo has over 5 million titles to choose
from in its store, but it is still nowhere near to the Amazon. Apparently,
Amazon has more options to choose from, and you won’t end up with an empty
search box when you are looking for something. So if you want a reader with a
big screen and if you can shed upwards on US$ 230, then this one is for you. So in
case if you are planning to pick one up then you can do so starting September
6th.
