BLU Energy JR
Miami-based BLU recently
introduced a new and interesting Android smartphone, the Energy JR, which
promises to offer "72 hours of standard usage" - that's 3 full days -
on a single charge. Before you get too excited about it, we must mention that
the Energy JR is a very low-end device, offering some specs that we didn't
think we'd still see in 2016.
The BLU Energy JR is a small
handset sporting a 4-inch display with 480 x 800 pixels. It curiously offers
just 512 MB of internal memory, though it also has microSD card support, so you
can add a memory card of your own. The phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and has only 256 MB of RAM. There's Wi-Fi connectivity
on board, but there's no 3G or 4G - so you're stuck on 2G EDGE (BLU says that
this is actually a good thing, as it enables you to "get the lowest cost
cell phone plan").
The new smartphone also
features a quad-core MediaTek MT6571 processor, dual SIM support, a VGA
front-facing camera, and a 3.2 MP rear camera with LED flash. Speaking of the
rear, this is covered in a faux leather material similar to that popularized by
Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 back in 2013. As for the device's 3-day lasting
battery, this is a 3,000 mAh one.
The BLU Energy JR is already
listed on Amazon (in black and white - see the source links below), and should
start shipping in 2 to 4 weeks.
