Samsung
Galaxy J2
Samsung
today announced the Galaxy J2, a relatively modest smartphone that joins the
Galaxy J1, Galaxy J5, and Galaxy J7 in Samsung's J series of Android devices.
Revealed
in India, the Galaxy J2 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, and features an Ultra Data
Saving mode powered by Opera Max (as you may know, Opera Max is also available
as a separate app that allows Android users to save mobile data).
According
to Opera, its data-optimization technology can deliver up to 50% savings in
mobile data and free up to 11% of RAM, by reducing consumption on data-hungry
applications like YouTube, Instagram, or Vine. Ultra Data Saving mode will also
let Galaxy J2 owners block individual apps from using cellular data.
Powered
by a quad-core 1.3 GHz Exynos 3475 processor, the Galaxy J2 sports a 4.7-inch
display with 540x960 pixels, further featuring: LTE connectivity, 2 MP
front-facing camera, 5 MP rear camera, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable storage
space, and a 2000 mAh battery.
Samsung
will sell the Galaxy J2 starting September 21 in India, asking about US$ 129 for
it. At the moment, we don't know if the handset
will be available in other markets.
