Polaroid
Snap
Polaroid
announced the introduction of its new instant digital camera that will allow
people to print instant photos directly from the camera unit without the use of
any ink. Called the Polaroid Snap, the camera is essentially a reinvention of
Polaroid’s classic instant print camera.
The
Polaroid Snap includes an SD card slot capable of holding up to 32 gigabytes,
and – of course – the inkless printer. In order to achieve this, Polaroid
partnered with ZINK, a developer of Zero Ink printing technology. The photo
prints are achieved through the specially-designed printing paper that has
cyan, yellow, and magenta dye crystals underneath a protective polymer
overcoat. To create full-color prints, the printer simply heats up to activate
the colors in the paper.
The
Polaroid Snap uses 2″ by 3″, wallet-sized picture paper, and the camera itself
comes in four colors: red, blue, black, and white. According to the statement from Polaroid, the
Polaroid Snap will be available in the fourth quarter of 2015 and will retail
for US$ 99.
